This summer adults & teens participated in a summer reading program which encouraged them to read, explore, and discover the treasures at MacDonald Public Library. Each book or audio-book read or listened to was eligible for entry in the drawing for the summer reading prizes generously donated by the FRIENDS OF MACDONALD PUBLIC LIBRARY, that were on display in the main display cabinet in the library for the months of June and July.
 
Just the facts:
 
Adults out read the teens by a ratio of 2 to 1 with 197 eligible adult entries and 87 eligible teen entries. A continental breakfast and drawing was held on Friday August 1, 2008 at 10:30 a.m., with the winners of the Summer Reading Raffle and the Hemingway Writing Contest announced.

Both winners received a $25.00 gift certificate to a local bookstore, and their essays will be published on the library webpage.

Children, toddlers through grade 6 who participated in this summer's reading program had total minutes read from June 8th to August 8th counted and jumping grasshoppers they read a total of 30, 720 minutes. Way to go!
